We are pleased to share that Hail’s Safer Technologies for Schools (ST4S) certification has been successfully renewed for 2025. 🥳
This renewal confirms, once again, that Hail meets the rigorous privacy, data protection, and cyber-security standards required under the ST4S program, and that our practices continue to stand up to independent assessment year after year.
Importantly, Hail remains:
-
The only New Zealand communications platform assessed under the ST4S program, and
-
One of the first providers of Artificial Intelligence services to have successfully qualified for the ST4S AI assessment, covering Hail Assist.
ST4S certification is not a one-off tick-box exercise. Renewal requires ongoing evidence that privacy, security, and risk controls are actively maintained and embedded in day-to-day operations.
For us, this re-certification reinforces that our approach is not aspirational , it is operational.
Why this continues to matter
We regularly hear from organisations following cyber incidents, website compromises, or concerns about data being hosted offshore with limited transparency or accountability. These situations remain a significant concern across the IT sector.
Our response has been consistent: privacy and security must come first.
Hail was built with this principle at its core, and our continued ST4S certification across both our core platform and AI services reflects that stance. It provides our customers with confidence that Hail has been independently reviewed against internationally recognised education-specific safety and privacy standards. 💚
About ST4S
Safer Technologies for Schools (ST4S) is a recognised assessment framework that helps schools and education systems identify digital tools that meet high standards for privacy, data protection, and cyber security. The program includes separate assessments for:
-
Product and platform security, and
-
Artificial Intelligence services
Hail has successfully qualified for both. Yep a NZ first.
The New Zealand Ministry of Education and Australian Ministries are signatories to the ST4S program, reinforcing its relevance and importance within the local education context.
Our commitment
We are proud of this renewal, but more importantly, we see it as an ongoing responsibility. As Hail continues to evolve, including our use of AI, we remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of trust, transparency, and security for schools and their communities.
