When Christchurch Boys’ High School (CBHS) approached Hail with a vision to update their digital presence, we knew this was an opportunity to blend tradition with modernity, creating a website that not only reflects the school’s legacy but also embraces the future.
The Challenge
CBHS wanted a website that stood out—a design that was both striking and functional. The brief was clear: incorporate a bold colour palette of blue and black, reimagine the navigation to enhance user experience, and ensure the site was as dynamic as the institution it represents. The challenge was to create a seamless flow that would put the entire website at the visitor’s fingertips without the hassle of multiple clicks.
The new design needed to reflect the school’s rich history while also appealing to prospective students and parents. We envisioned a site that was not just visually stunning but also intuitive and engaging.
The Execution
Color Palette and Aesthetics:
The choice of blue and black was pivotal. Blue, a colour often associated with trust and stability, perfectly aligns with CBHS’s values. Black added a touch of sophistication and modernity. Together, they created a bold, contemporary look that immediately captured attention.
Navigation
One of the standout features of the new design is the innovative navigation menu. We designed a menu that presents the entire website upfront, eliminating the need for multiple clicks. This approach ensures that visitors can easily find what they’re looking for, whether it’s information about the curriculum, enrollment details, or the latest school news.
Subtle Animations and Video Integration:
To bring the site to life, we incorporated subtle animations that guide the user’s journey without being intrusive. A carefully chosen video adds a dynamic element, offering a glimpse into the vibrant life at CBHS. These elements work together to create an immersive experience that keeps visitors engaged.
Reimagined Flow:
The entire flow of the website was rethought to ensure a logical and intuitive user journey. From the homepage to internal pages, every click feels natural, guiding visitors seamlessly through the wealth of information available.
